About Us

First date:
Thor and I
knew each other at wine.com but we never dated. It was not until I
left to work with the Gap that we reunited at a going away party for
a wine.com co-worker. We were in a big group and ended up going to
dinner and Thor and I sat across from each other.
After a Thai
curry that night and tons of conversation I mentioned I had plenty
of time for lunch … (and with a little pressure from a mutual
friend, the message got across—ask me on a date!!!)
Thor suggested
dinner instead and our first date was in North Beach. Thor was the
first person to ride in my new car and I was so excited to show it
to him.
Thor went to
Norway for ten days, but never missed e-mailing or calling me. He
sent me an e-mail during his layover in Iceland which amazed me.
I knew then
that Thor is the most thoughtful, loving and awesome person I could
imagine having in my life. 2 weeks later I introduced him to my mom!
Engagement:
September 12, 2007
We went to
Norway for my first visit to Scandinavia to visit Thor’s family.
We stayed in
Kristiansand for a few days and then Thor wanted to show me his
brother’s cabin on Haeroya in Norway an island only accessible by
boat...
I thought this
was really cool and his parents drove us out on a boat and dropped
us off with some Wasa crisps and cheese to survive for the night.
We were just hanging out in the very quiet cabin, talking across the
table when Thor (acting kind of nervous) proposed to me by telling
me he loved me and had a special gift for me. Then there was a
box…and he opened it and I just began to cry and cry and he had to
actually ask me: does that mean yes….!
Of course that
means yes!
His parents
picked us up the next day and they were just thrilled. Isa (mamma)
said in English: I was wondering and just waiting for when this was
going to happen.
We had a
celebratory dinner and his parents gave us a silver cheese slicer
(FYI the cheese slicer was invented in Norway) and wonderful
presents and had a nice quiet time with his parents at his family
home.
